CIOOS is composed of three Regional Associations: Pacific, the Gulf of St. Lawrence, and Atlantic. Each region meets the needs of their communities by developing regionally-specific tools and delivering tailored benefits. However, all are closely linked by the national strategy and regional representation in national governance. Each regional association works cooperatively with local partners to assess data availability, evaluate data management maturity and capacity, and understand their data needs. The strategic objectives of the regional associations are closely connected to the needs of their local communities— which in turn influences the national strategic direction of CIOOS.
